Many scientists and politicians advocate reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 80% over the next 40 years or so. A new study suggests that even those cuts will not prevent significant climatic warming in the future. The authors allege that the only way to keep temperatures stable is to bring emissions down to near zero in the immediate near future. See http://www.agu.org/pubs/crossref/2008/2007GL032388.shtml. Such action seems both unlikely and impossible. As with all predictions, one major issue is the accuracy of the models used to support the conclusions reached, as noted in prior posts.
